AFIB – unusual symptoms

Here are some common symptoms of AFIB:

  1. 50% of patients have no symptoms
  2. Fatigue/lack of energy/”feeling old”
  3. Palpitations (irregular) (can be fast/slow)
  4. Shortness of breath
  5. Dizzness
  6. Chest pain
  7. Initial presentation with stroke

Some less common symptoms of AFIB:

  1. Frequent urination (due to atrial stretch and release of natriuretic peptide from the atrium).
  2. Back pain/abdominal pain/limb pain related to embolic event (clot dislodges from heart and goes somewhere in the body).
