plant based diet can prevent 1/3rd of deaths

Posted on 2019-05-192019-05-20 by Sameer Oza

Dr. Walter Willett, professor of epidemiology and nutrition at Harvard Medical School, while talking at the Unite to Cure Fourth International Vatican Conference said:

“We have just been doing some calculations looking at the question of how much could we reduce mortality shifting towards a healthy, more plant based diet, not necessarily totally vegan, and our estimates are about one third of deaths could be prevented. That’s not even talking about physical activity or not smoking, and that’s all deaths, not just cancer deaths. That’s probably an underestimate as well as that doesn’t take into account the fact that obesity is important and we control for obesity.”

This article in Telegraph summarizes the above video.

An interesting factoid – adding a cup of beans to your daily diet will add 4 years to your life.

Just a video I came upon how meat consumption can hurt you…. 🙂 For you scientists out there, n=1, p value not significant. But is immensely entertaining.
