artificial intelligence beating doctors?

Posted on 2019-05-212019-05-25 by Sameer Oza
Is the world ready for AI doctors? AI firm Babylon says its chatbot performs better than human GPs, on average, on trainee exams set by Britain’s Royal College of General Practitioners. Image is a file graphic rendering. Graphic: Alamy

Alzheimers’

Yes, AI is better in diagnosing this as well.

Childhood diseases

Yes, better in diagnosing mononucleosis, roseola, influenza, chicken pox and hand-foot-mouth disease.

Predicting mortality

Doctors are notoriously bad at this. Machines are better.

Empathy

It seems AI is going to beat us in emotions and empathy as well.

Child's drawing of a doctor's office showing the child on the exam table and the doctor at the computer.

Machines can elicit fake empathy and emotions. But they don’t have humanity. If we as doctors get carried away by industrialized medicine, AI is going to win the day.
