Excellent exhibition about this original renaissance man at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
Why is it that in the 1500s there were a lot more of these superhumans than there are today.
2 causes come to mind – specialization and lack of boredom.
We have become too specialized in today’s society “an expert knows more and more about less and less until s/he knows everything about nothing”.
There are a lot of distractions in today’s society – digital and otherwise and we do not have a chance to get bored. Robert Pirsig, author of Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance said “Boredom always precedes a period of great creativity. “

I learned a lot about the “Vitruvian Man” than I had ever known. In addition to perfect proportions involving the golden ratio, the Vitruvian Man has religious significance that I was not aware of.

Fascinated by this man! Are there any modern Renaissance Men left? Is Brian May a candidate?
Here is da Vinci’s CV – engineer, architect, sculptor, painter, musician, inventor, cartographer, geologist ….. We would do well to match 1 line in this CV.
